Models Own - Boogie Nights

Asos recently got the Models Own Mirrorball collection. And in true magpie fashion I had to have some of the beautiful shiny glitters! I got two from the collection and today I have boogie nights to show you.

The glitter is mainly pink based with blue and holo flecks in. All the glitter is hand cut meaning they are wonderfully random.

It's not the easiest polish to work with, like most glitter suspended in clear base you have to arrange the glitter to get an even spread and I found it took a while to dry due to the thickness when trying to get good glitter distribution.

I used three coats of Boogie Nights over one coat of Cult Nails Charming and sealed with one coat of OPI top coat.

Cult Nails Charlatan

My second order from the magnificent Cult Nails arrived today.

I was so excited/impatient that in the hour between coming home from work and going to ballet I had to try one out.

Charlatan is the one I am most excited about. Seeing people pictures of it in action made me need it. Not want it, need it.

It's a gorgeous top coat that is pink toned with micro green glitter suspended in it. Amazing.

I cannot wait to try out out on different colour bases and over the top of stamped nail art.

My pictures don't even come close to doing it justice, I definitely recommend trying this or any other Cult Nail polishes out. It's one hell of an indie brand!

Bobbi Brown for Breast Cancer

To support breast cancer awareness month Bobbi Brown released a limited edition set with Pink Peony illuminating bronzing powder with a mini blusher brush with a pink handle.

The set costs £35 with £5 being donated to breast cancer research.

I thought it was a really cute set and I was desperate for a travel sized face brush so I went for it.

The blush itself has the breast cancer ribbon embossed on it and is a lovely soft pink with micro gold shimmer. This is a lovely set, the one thing that could make it better is a bigger percentage of the sales price to go to the charity.

Mac Hey Sailor - Crew Highlighter

Whilst out shopping I finally cracked and bought the highlighter that came out with Mac's summer collection, called Crew.
I admit it was all about the looks. I love the packaging for the whole collection, navy, stripey and nautical. It makes a nice change from the white packaging from the limited edition collections of late.
Then Crew itself all pretty with its pastel pink, lilac and orange stripes. Too cute.
I swatched it in the Mac store and was impressed with the pigmentation so I parted with my money and home it came.

I do like it, when the colours are all mixed together it is a very pretty pink. But I don't see highlighter, I see blusher. Not that I have a problem with that at all.

Anyway here are a few pictures of the beauty in question.

New Armani Eyes To Kill Eyeshadows

I love the Eyes To Kill Eyeshadows, the are just incredible. The sparkle, the wear time, the colours. I don't love the hefty price tag so much but I think they are worth it. I had a House of Fraser voucher for my birthday so when there were new shades released as part of the Summer Collection I knew what to use it on.

I only went in for one but ended up with two.
Number 20 - Obsidian Black, is a gorgeous blackened teal
Number 23 - Madre Perla, is a white based duochrome with green and pink running through it

Unfortunately both of these colours are difficult to capture in their full beauty on camera, so I'd recommend trying them out in person.

Here are some pics, swatches and a quick look I did using them both:

OCC Lip Tar Swatches

Here are the swatches for the two lip tars I bought that are part of the summer collection from OCC "The Garden", along with two from their fall collection "Pretty Boy".

Although they are now packaged differently the product inside seems the same, still the lovely peppermint smell and the insane pigmentation.
I prefer the new packaging as it is much easier to control the amount you get out, as well as it being neater.

Now on to the swatches:

Ombre Lips using OCC "The Garden" Lip Tars

As mentioned in the previous post I ordered a couple of lip tars from OCC's summer collection.

I ordered the lovely light pink called Orphelia and then the amazing purple, Belladonna.

This is just a very quick look I did with the two colours in an ombre lip.

They'll be swatches of the individual colours coming up shortly.

OCC Lip Tars

I finally invested in some of the Obsessive Compulsive Cosmetics Lip Tars after seeing xsparkage's swatched of the summer colours in "The Garden" collection.

Whilst I was looking for the new colours I spotted that Love Makeup was selling off the tar's in the old packaging at £6.50 so I decided to indulge.

Today I have Queen, a gorgeous, vibrant, red/pink colour.
The wear on these is insane. I put it on before 8am, and wore it until 6pm. It survived endless cups of tea and lunch. It was a little drying after a few hours but nothing that a little balm won't fix.

I'll share my other lip tars with you another time (I can honestly say that I am in love)

Mac Shop Lipsticks - Watch Me Simmer and Quick Sizzle

I picked up a couple of the lipsticks from Selfridges as they had them exclusively for a couple of weeks before they were released everywhere else this week.

The packaging is super cute and colourful, but unfortunately it's just a sleeve that goes on top of the regular black box, with the lipstick housed in the standard Mac black tube.

The two I picked were Watch Me Simmer and Quick Sizzle.

Watch Me Simmer is a Matte finish bright pink. I think of it as a matte Girl About Town which is what drew me towards it.

Quick Sizzle is an amazingly bright pink coral colour with an amplified finish. It reminds me of Viva Glam Nicki, except her coral sister.

Here are some comparisons to other Mac lip products in my collections to help you see if you need them in your lifes too.

L-R: Watch Me Simmer, Vegas Volt, Toxic Tale, Hibiscus, Ever Hip

L-R: Quick Sizzle, Girl About Town, Petals and Peacocks, Lustering, Hot House l/g

The Mac Shop, Mac Cook collections are now available at all Mac locations and online as well as in certain department stores.

Nicki Minaj Viva Glam Lipstick

I was incredibly excited when I received an email inviting me to buy the new viva glam lipstick before it was launch on general release. Needless to say I jumped straight in and ordered it.
Now here we are a few days later and it has arrived on my doorstep.

And I love it.

The brilliant thing about Viva Glam collections is that the full retail price (minus VAT) goes to help women, men and kids everywhere affected with HIV and Aids.

The Viva Glam Nicki comes in the standard black box with the red signature of the celebrate who is facing the product.

The inner tube is classic Mac black but with red detailing instead of the usual silver.

The lipstick itself is amazing. It's just the most incredible candy pink. It's a satin finish so has a sheen to it. The colour is vibrant but wearable. I absolutely adore this pink.

This goes on general release instores and online around 1st March priced £13.50

OPI Nicki Minaj Nails

So after seeing this amazing and fun design on Do Not Freeze's Blog I had to give it a go.

Basically its a crazy, bright coloured leopard print nail design using three of the new colours release from the new Nicki Minaj nail collection from OPI.
I have the mini collection that has a three brights and a glitter. And this uses the three brights, which made me very happy as I could try out three colours in one go.

You can pick up these nail varnishes at ASOS priced £11 for individual full sized bottles or £12.95 for the mini collection.

Topshop SS12 Collection - Sisters of the New Moon - Lipstick Swatches

When I saw these pop up at the end of the last week I knew I needed to investigate further.
For a start the packaging is simply to die for.

The nail varnishes look nice, but I have a bunch of metallics already and I really don't have enough fingernails to get through wearing even half the polishes I already have. So I took a pass on them.
Same with mascara. Got a wide collection already and never seem to try one and get wowed so for me it wasn't worth the £10.

The lipstick and liptint on the other hand intrigued me a little more.

The lip tint, called Crystal, is gorgeous to look at in the tube. It's a translucent and incredibly glittery candy pink. So cutsey.

When I swatched it and tried it out I was a little disappointed as there seemed to be such little colour payoff.
That being said it is supposed to react to your skin, which normally means body temperature. And I did notice the colour turn pinker after a little time. So after being a little underwhelmed to begin with I actually quite like it and think it will be a really easy lip colour to throw on when I have on a heavy eye.
Top - Charmed Lipstick, Bottom - Crystal Liptint
The lipolour, Charmed, initially looked like it might satisfy my need for the sold out Bobbi Brown Atomic Orange, but it lacks the punch. It's a good standard, coraly orange, but it's nothing unique and doesn't stand out in my collection.

I love the packaging and I think the idea behind the collection was good, it just lacked a little power.

Top Picture - Charmed, Bottom Picture - Crystal

Currently available in store and online, lipcolours priced £9 each

Dior Addict Lipstick - 578 Dior Kiss

I've been meaning to try dior addict lipsticks forever, but for one reason or another I never got around to buying one. This week I ended up walking back to the train station from work and had time to spare so went into Debenhams. It quite possibly is the most disappointing Debenhams ever built but there is a Dior counter so I figured that would satisfy my needs.

The girl on the counter was lovely and incredibly helpful, I was just browsing through the colours, and goodness there are alot of them. So I decided if I was going to get one it should be the gorgeous pink Kate Moss sports in the promo pics.

I was also colour matched for Dior Forever foundation and given a sample, along with a sample of Dior New Look Mascara and a couple of skin care items.

Add in the fact I had £10 on my beauty card to spend and it turned into a very good way to kill time whilst waiting for my train.

Now onto the lipstick itself.

The tube is beautiful, it catches the light and turns purple and blue. Stunning.
The colour looks really intense in the tube but on the lips translates to a beautiful, everyday pinky gloss. It feels super conditioning too, which is a huge bonus in this horrible cold snap we're having.

I have definately loved my first Dior lipstick and plan on adding more to my collection. The only question is how to pick a shade?

Availiable at Debenhams priced £22
